Alicia Vikander Reveals a Deliciously Dark Side to Her Style in Paris

Out of the starry line-up of muses to Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton, few have proved themselves as willing to embrace his fashion-forward designs as Alicia Vikander. The Oscar-winning actress has sported Louis Vuitton on red carpets all around the world: so today, she repaid the favor by turning up to support the house's parent company at the LVMH Prize ceremony, presenting the top award to South African designer Thebe Magugu.

For this very chic occasion, Vikander went for an outfit that sits at the more avant-garde end of Ghesquiere’s design spectrum. And despite her already impeccable wardobe, today’s look saw her enter new territory: while the actress is known to be a fan of sleek, feminine gowns, her outfit carried an air of something a little darker and more dangerous.

Dressed in an all-black, belted two-piece ensemble that was cut from a textural medley of leather, satin and velvet, the actress looked every inch the Hollywood femme fatale. The satin trousers carried all the subversive glamour of Marlene Dietrich’s vampy tailoring or an original ’60s Yves Saint Laurent “Le Smoking” suit, while the black leather top with velvet batwing sleeves—and, of course, the razor-sharp belt buckle—only added to this kinky undertone. Accessorized with understated earrings and a pair of simple black leather pumps, the goth-inspired look marked a brilliantly bold new chapter for Vikander’s personal style.
